Mexico

Mexico is one of those countries that will catch you by surprise and you will almost certainly remember your time here, but continues to showcase its culture as you spend more time here. The food alone is reason enough to stay longer than planned, but it’s the overall pace, the vibrant colors, and the variety of landscapes that has long-term travelers returning time after time.

My focus has been in Oaxaca state, which is one of the most rewarding corners of the country for anyone wanting to slow down, have access to an amazing food scene, and actually feel part of a culture that cannot be found anywhere else. From the many mezcalerias of Oaxaca City to the beach breaks of Puerto Escondido and the village markets scattered across the Sierra Juárez, this is a part of Mexico that rewards time and effort.

In addition to Oaxaca, there is Mexico City, which is known for its many museums (more than NYC!), its many interesting and unique barrios, the many mercados and incredible street food surrounding every corner of the city.

Whether you’re here for a week or a few months, Mexico has a way of expanding to fill however long you give it.
